Amp
Agentic coding tool — CLI, threads, and cloud Orbs.
About
Amp (ampcode.com) is the agentic coding tool that started at Sourcegraph and spun out as Amp Frontier Corporation in December 2025. It runs as a CLI (macOS/Linux/Windows via WSL), a web app, and macOS/iOS apps, with persistent shareable threads, Orbs (cloud sandboxes for parallel work), subagents, an Oracle second-opinion model, and AGENTS.md-based configuration.
Model routing is automatic across frontier models; individuals pay as-you-go with no token markup. The CLI connects to open editors via ide connect. A serious Claude Code alternative with Sourcegraph's code-intelligence DNA.

Trust score — 7/10
Scored 7/10 (metrics tier). Strong product with credible traction signals and transparent pay-as-you-go pricing, but closed-source and young as an independent company (Dec 2025 spinout). Adoption is a provider-tier estimate (thinner evidence). Metrics tier.

- 8.0/10
- · provider-tier estimate — thinner evidence (no public adoption metric)
- · spun out Dec 2025; no public repo — adoption estimated from traction signals
