Anthropic Cowork
Claude Code's agentic engine for everyone else — point it at a folder and let it do the knowledge work.
About
Launched as a research preview in January 2026, Cowork packages the same agentic architecture as Claude Code into a no-terminal interface for knowledge workers. You grant it access to specific folders and describe the outcome in plain language; it plans, executes multi-step tasks, asks clarifying questions when stuck, and returns finished deliverables — expense reports from receipt photos, organized downloads, spreadsheets with working formulas, slide drafts.
It runs in the Claude desktop app with a 200K-token context window, supports 11 official plugins at launch (productivity, marketing, sales, finance, legal, and more), connects to 50+ services through connectors, and gained scheduled tasks, a built-in browser, and Dispatch — assign tasks from your iPhone and return to finished work on your desktop. In March 2026 Anthropic added full computer use (point, click, navigate like a human) to Cowork and Claude Code. It is on all paid Claude plans, with Windows support following the initial macOS launch.
What it can do
- Agentic file operations in folders you designate — no terminal required
- 200K-token context for long, complex tasks
- Official plugins bundling skills, connectors, and subagents per role
- 50+ app connectors (Slack, Google Drive, Notion, Figma, Asana)
- Scheduled and recurring tasks; subagents for parallel work
- Dispatch: assign tasks from your phone, finish on desktop
- Computer use: point, click, and navigate apps like a human (research preview)
Setup
- Install the Claude desktop app and sign in with a paid Claude plan (Pro or Max).
- Open Cowork and connect the folders you want it to work in.
- Describe the outcome in plain language; answer its clarifying questions.
- Review the deliverables it produces; enable plugins and connectors for role-specific packs and app integrations.

Use cases
Works with
Trust score — 7/10
Scored 7/10 (metrics tier, metrics-v1). Evidence: official Anthropic product page (verified live) plus consistent independent coverage of the launch, feature set, and pricing across 2026. Strengths: first-party Anthropic product, permission-scoped folder access, commercial data commitments. Docked for: (1) closed product on paid tiers only; (2) computer-use and broad file access meaningfully expand the trust boundary — Anthropic itself advises starting with trusted apps and avoiding sensitive data; (3) research-preview status at launch with platform and availability limits. License: closed product.
