APIMatic

SDK generation and developer portals from your API spec, with validation and format transformation.

About

APIMatic has been generating SDKs and API documentation from machine-readable specs since 2013, making it one of the oldest commercial players in the space. Feed it an OpenAPI, RAML, or Postman collection and it produces idiomatic client libraries in seven languages (Python, Java, C# .NET, TypeScript, PHP, Ruby, Go), alongside an interactive developer portal with code samples, walkthroughs, and a code playground.

The platform also validates and lints specifications with a large built-in ruleset, converts API definitions between more than a dozen formats, and more recently added MCP server generation so AI agents can call your API. Pricing starts at $15/month, the cheapest commercial entry point among the SDK generators, though independent comparisons note heavier dependency trees and no runtime type safety in generated code. Everything runs through vendor-hosted services, so air-gapped generation is not an option.

What it can do

  • SDK generation in 7 languages from OpenAPI, RAML, and Postman collections
  • Interactive developer portals with code samples and walkthroughs
  • Spec validation and linting with a large built-in ruleset
  • Format conversion between 15+ API definition formats
  • MCP server generation from API specs
  • DX-as-code automation with CI/CD and a GitHub linter app

Setup

Import your API spec into APIMatic; configure codegen settings and generate SDKs or publish a developer portal.

Trust score — 7/10

/10 trustVerified

Scored 7/10 (verified tier, metrics-v1). Evidence: operating since 2013/2014, SDK generation in seven languages, developer portal and spec-validation products documented on the vendor site and its API Evangelist profile. Strengths: mature all-in-one docs plus SDKs, lowest commercial entry price ($15/mo), broad spec-transformation support. Docked for: (1) closed platform requiring vendor connectivity; (2) no free tier; (3) third-party reviews flag heavy dependency trees and no runtime type safety in generated SDKs. License: proprietary.
