Each subagent is a focused role definition (for example a React specialist or Terraform reviewer) that the main agent delegates to, keeping the main context window clean. Install via the Claude Code plugin marketplace, an interactive install script, or manual copy into ~/.claude/agents/.
The honest picture: subagents are only as good as their prompts — some are thin wrappers around 'you are an expert in X'.
