About

Bolt (StackBlitz, 2024, bolt.new) is the AI full-stack app builder: prompt in text, get a working full-stack app running in the browser (WebContainers — real Node.js in your browser tab), with deploy to Netlify.

Freemium (token-based). The "prompt, run, edit, deploy" loop is the fastest path from idea to working app. For hackathons, MVPs, and prototypes, Bolt is exceptional; for production codebases, export and continue in Cursor. The WebContainers tech (real backend in-browser) is the differentiator.

What it can do

  • • Text-to-full-stack-app\n• WebContainers: real Node in browser\n• Instant preview and editing\n• One-click Netlify deploy\n• Exportable code\n• Full-stack (frontend + backend)

Setup

  1. Go to https://bolt.new and sign in.\n2. Describe your app in text.\n3. Edit the generated code; deploy to Netlify or export.

Prerequisites

A modern browser; a Bolt account.

Trust score — 7/10

/10 trustMetrics-checked

Scored 7/10 (metrics tier). The fastest idea-to-app loop with genuinely novel WebContainers tech and StackBlitz credibility. Docked three points: (1) token-based pricing; (2) prototypes, not production codebases; (3) browser-only. For MVPs and hackathons.

How the trust score is built

Full methodology →
Adoption · stars/downloads, log-scaled vs peers
9.0/10
Maintenance · recency, releases, issue load
5.0/10
Openness · license + docs
4.5/10
Manual review · sanity read + red-flag check
8.0/10
  • · provider-tier estimate — thinner evidence (no public adoption metric)
  • · fastest idea-to-app; WebContainers tech; StackBlitz credibility
  • · no release date — neutral maintenance score
  • · manual review: prototypes not production; export for real work; license: proprietary — freemium, token-based
