About

Checkstep is an AI content moderation platform that combines a policy engine, an AI model marketplace, and human-in-the-loop review in one dashboard. The company says its automation handles over 98% of moderation decisions and processes more than 60 million pieces of content a month across text, image, video, and audio, with hate-speech detection in over 100 languages. A built-in DSA toolkit generates transparency reports for European users, aimed squarely at platforms facing EU Digital Services Act obligations.

The London-based company was founded by Guillaume Bouchard, who previously founded Bloomsbury AI (acquired by Facebook) and led AI integrity work at Facebook London. Checkstep raised 3 million pounds led by Alea Capital Partners, with Slow Ventures and Look AI Ventures participating, to expand in the EU and US. Its public customer list includes Trustpilot and Daily Mail, and third-party listings also name WeTransfer and Shein as users.
