CodeBuddy
Tencent's AI coding suite: standalone IDE, editor plugins, and a terminal coding agent.
About
CodeBuddy is Tencent Cloud's official AI coding tool, offered as a standalone AI-native IDE, plugins for VS Code and JetBrains, and CodeBuddy Code, a terminal agent installed via npm. The IDE separates work into Ask (explain without editing), Craft (make multi-file changes), and Plan (decompose complex tasks first), which teaches a useful habit of not granting edit permission for every question. The CLI supports headless execution, MCP client and server connections, subagents, long-term memory, the ACP protocol, and official TypeScript and Python agent SDKs.
The honest picture: the core product is proprietary and the ecosystem is strongest in China, so the international community and third-party resources are thinner than for Western alternatives. Pricing is credit-based (Free 100 credits a month, Pro $10 a month, Team $40 a seat), which is reasonable but adds another subscription to track.
