CodeSee
Auto-updating visual maps of your codebase, with AI summaries and walkthroughs for onboarding and review.
About
CodeSee turned large codebases into living diagrams. Its Maps were auto-syncing visualizations showing file dependencies, cross-repository service connections, and data flows; Review Maps showed a pull request's blast radius before merge. On top of the maps sat CodeSee AI, which generated code summaries for services and PRs, answered natural-language questions about the codebase from the IDE, and produced proactive insights about important codebase events. The company, founded in San Francisco in 2019, built its AI features in partnership with Microsoft and OpenAI.
GitKraken acquired CodeSee and folded its code-health and visibility features into the GitKraken DevEx platform, and the standalone codesee.io site no longer resolves. That is the honest caveat for this entry: the maps-and-AI concept is sound and the technology survives inside GitKraken, but you can no longer sign up for CodeSee as an independent product. Evaluate GitKraken's current offering if you want this capability today.

Works with
Trust score — 5/10
Scored 5/10 (metrics tier, metrics-v1). Evidence: founded 2019, TechCrunch-covered AI launch, GitKraken acquisition confirmed by the company's own jobs page; codesee.io verified dead (connection failure), gitkraken.com verified live. Strengths: proven product concept, credible acquirer keeps the tech alive. Docked for: (1) standalone product discontinued — cannot be evaluated or bought today; (2) proprietary SaaS with no open-source footprint. License: proprietary.
