About

Crush (charmbracelet/crush, ~28.6k stars) is Charm's terminal coding agent with the signature Charm TUI polish: multi-model support, MCP, sessions, and a plugin system.

License caveat: it uses the Functional Source License 1.1 (MIT Future License) — source-available, converting to MIT two years after each release. You can read and self-host it, but it is NOT OSI open-source; commercial redistribution terms differ from MIT. Flagged clearly here so there are no surprises.

What it can do

  • Polished terminal UI
  • Multi-model support
  • MCP and plugins
  • Session management
  • Source-available (FSL-1.1 → MIT after 2y)

Setup

  1. Install via the install script at github.com/charmbracelet/crush.
  2. Configure your model provider.
  3. Run crush in a project.

Prerequisites

A model provider API key.
