EventCatalog
Open-source living documentation for event-driven architectures.
About
EventCatalog is an open-source documentation tool for event-driven architectures created by David Boyne. It treats architecture documentation as a generated website: you define domains, services, events, commands, queries, and schemas in markdown, and it renders interactive visual maps of how everything connects, with versioning, changelogs, and ownership built in.
Unlike static docs that rot, EventCatalog stays current through generators for 15+ messaging platforms plus OpenAPI and AsyncAPI imports, and it now includes AI-powered architecture discovery. The project reports 40,000+ catalogs created and 70+ contributors, is MIT licensed, and scaffolds a new catalog in seconds with npx.
