About

Fi builds GPS smart collars for dogs, led by the Series 3+ launched in June 2025. It offers nationwide GPS tracking with no range limits, custom geofenced safe zones with instant escape alerts, a Lost Dog Mode with rapid live location updates, and up to three months of battery life. The collar is slim enough for 24/7 wear, waterproof, and comes in multiple colors and sizes plus a smaller Fi Mini for small dogs and cats.

The AI layer detects activity, rest, barking, licking, scratching, eating, and drinking, and the Fi app adds an AI Companion that answers behavior and care questions plus Smart Documents, which reads uploaded vet records and bills to add context to health data. Fi was founded in 2017 by Jonathan Bensamoun and Loren Kirkby and says it has served millions of dog parents. Membership starts around $14 per month and includes the hardware, and Fi Mini is sold at $129 per year including a full year of membership.

Scored 7/10 (TIER metrics, metrics-v1). Evidence: Business Wire launch releases document the Series 3+ (June 2025) and Fi Mini, pricing, and founder history; APKMirror app listing confirms AI behavior insights feature set; vendor claims millions of dog parents served. Strengths: long-running product line since 2019, strong battery life, genuinely broad AI behavior detection. Docked for: (1) behavior-detection accuracy claims are vendor-stated with no published validation; (2) GPS tracking quality varies by area and LTE coverage, noted in third-party reviews. License: proprietary hardware + SaaS.
