About

GitBook AI is the suite of AI features in the GitBook documentation platform. GitBook Lens is a semantic search layer that continuously indexes documentation and answers questions in plain English with clickable references, first released in alpha and now in public beta. GitBook Assistant provides an AI chat interface for readers using agentic retrieval over the docs.

GitBook Agent is a proactive AI collaborator in open beta for Pro and Enterprise plans: it scans connected sources such as Intercom and GitHub Issues to identify documentation gaps, proposes updates in the team's style guide, opens change requests for human review, and can auto-update API docs from OpenAPI specs. The platform also offers an AI-powered content audit to flag conflicting information.

What it can do

  • Semantic search over docs with cited answers
  • Proactive doc-gap detection from support channels
  • Style-guide-aware update proposals
  • OpenAPI-driven API doc updates
