Iris Dating
AI matchmaking that learns the faces you actually find attractive.
About
Iris Dating is an AI-first dating app that tries to learn what you actually find attractive instead of asking you to state a type. New users train the AI by rating stock photos, and the app builds a model of facial attraction patterns that it refines from ongoing swipes, then only shows profiles with a high predicted mutual attraction. The company says this short training process sharply raises the share of shown photos a user finds attractive, and that mutual matches are far likelier than with random matching.
Founded by CEO Igor Khalatian, Iris reported 2 million users in 2023 and says its selfie-verification system has blocked hundreds of thousands of potential catfishers. The app also uses ChatGPT to help members write bios and opening lines. Coverage has noted the obvious open question: an AI trained on your past swipes can entrench narrow patterns, including racial and body-type bias, which the company says it addresses through diverse training data.
