legalese
Claude skill that generates signable legal .docx documents from Markdown.
About
A TypeScript library plus Claude skill for drafting signable legal-style .docx documents — agreements, assignments, NDAs, schedules — from Markdown. The core idea is that defined terms are variables, not strings: declare a term once in the schema, reference it everywhere, and one edit ripples through the whole document. It handles field tables, side-by-side signature blocks, and schedule grids in a consistent house style. It ships as a Claude skill: build plugin.zip with bun or grab it from GitHub releases, then upload it at claude.ai skills settings. The repo has 2 GitHub stars but is a real, active project — 101 commits, 20 releases, MIT licensed. Useful for real-estate-adjacent paperwork like assignment contracts and NDAs. Honest limitation: it is a document assembler, not a lawyer — have counsel review anything binding before anyone signs.
What it can do
- Markdown-to-.docx legal document generation
- Defined-term variables with automatic plurals and articles
- Signature blocks (single and side-by-side)
- Field tables and schedule grids
- CLI and programmatic API
- Bundled CLI for end-to-end drafting
Setup
As a Claude skill:
- bun install && bun run pack (produces plugin.zip), or download plugin.zip from the latest GitHub release.
- Open claude.ai skills settings, create a skill, and upload plugin.zip.
Then ask Claude to draft a document conversationally (e.g. 'draft an NDA between...').
Prerequisites
A Claude plan with skills enabled; bun/Node only if building from source (pandoc needed for the library path, not the skill path).
Use cases
Works with
Trust score — 6/10
Scored 6/10 (metrics tier, metrics-v1). Evidence: Live GitHub repo page read: 2 stars, MIT license, 101 commits, 20 releases — small but genuinely active project.; Concrete install verified verbatim: bun install && bun run pack -> plugin.zip, upload at claude.ai skills settings.; Low star count is the main trust drag; scored accordingly with honest limitation about legal review..
