Lilt
Enterprise translation platform whose adaptive AI learns from professional linguists in real time.
About
Lilt is an enterprise localization platform founded in 2015 by Spence Green and John DeNero, researchers who previously worked on Google Translate. Its Contextual AI Engine is a translation-specific generative model that applies in-context learning: corrections from professional linguists feed back into the model immediately, so it adapts to a company's domain, terminology, and style without retraining cycles. Customers can run Verified workflows with human review or fully automatic Instant translation, and self-managed deployments are possible since the models are compact enough to run on a customer's own compute.
The platform covers 100+ languages across text, documents, audio, and video, connects to 100+ enterprise systems (Salesforce, Adobe Experience Manager, and more), and layers project management, analytics, and audit trails on top. In 2026 it added an MCP server and a ChatGPT plugin directory listing so governed, on-brand translation can run inside enterprise AI assistants. It is built for enterprises and government agencies with mission-critical content; pricing is subscription-based and quote-driven. Lilt has raised about $164M from investors including Sequoia and Intel Capital.

Trust score — 8/10
Scored 8/10 (TIER verified, metrics-v1). Evidence: operating since 2015, founded by ex-Google Translate researchers, ~$164M raised (Sequoia, Intel Capital), documented Contextual AI Engine with published technical detail, and October 2026 ChatGPT plugin directory launch covered by press releases. Strengths: real technical differentiation (in-context learning), enterprise integrations, self-hosting option, fresh ecosystem momentum. Docked for: (1) throughput and accuracy advantages are vendor-reported; (2) no public pricing and enterprise-only posture limits independent evaluation. License: proprietary (subscription SaaS).
