Memfault
Device observability platform for IoT fleets and embedded firmware.
About
Memfault is a cloud-based observability platform purpose-built for embedded devices and IoT fleets. A lightweight firmware SDK captures coredumps, reboot reasons, trace events, logs, and metrics on constrained devices, then uploads compact chunks over BLE, Wi-Fi, cellular, or deferred USB for cloud analysis.
The cloud symbolicates crashes against firmware builds, deduplicates identical faults, aggregates fleet-wide health metrics, and helps engineers triage field issues in hours instead of weeks. It also manages over-the-air update rollouts with staged cohorts. Founded in 2018 by engineers from Pebble, Oculus, and Fitbit, Memfault reports deployment on millions of devices and customers including Bose, Logitech, Panasonic, and Lyft. Its automated fault analysis gives it a genuine machine-intelligence angle for embedded teams.
What it can do
- Automatic crash capture with symbolication and deduplication
- Fleet health monitoring across software and hardware versions
- Over-the-air update management with staged rollouts
- Lightweight SDK optimized for constrained devices
- Dashboard, CLI, and HTTP API for triage workflows
