Metaplane
AI-powered data observability with bespoke ML anomaly detection models.
Acquired — still operating
acquired by Datadog 2025
About
Metaplane is a data observability platform that monitors data quality across the modern data stack. It built its own bespoke ML models designed for data-system patterns rather than generic time series, retraining after every observation for fast adaptation to evolving data. The platform offers column-level lineage, schema change alerts, and data CI/CD.
Founded in 2020 and backed by Y Combinator and Khosla Ventures, Metaplane raised $22 million before being acquired by Datadog in 2025 to strengthen data observability for AI applications. Customers have included data teams at Bose, ClickUp, and Klaviyo.
