Netdata
Real-time infrastructure monitoring with unsupervised ML anomaly detection at the edge.
About
Netdata is a real-time infrastructure monitoring platform that auto-discovers services and generates dashboards without manual configuration, collecting metrics at per-second granularity across servers, containers, Kubernetes, and cloud. Its standout feature is unsupervised anomaly detection that runs locally on each agent: 18 independent k-means clustering models are trained per metric on staggered 6-hour windows, and an anomaly is flagged only when all 18 agree, which Netdata reports cuts false positives by about 99 percent.
Since version 2.6.0 the agent implements the Model Context Protocol, and Netdata Cloud acts as an MCP server, so AI assistants can query infrastructure metrics, discover nodes, and perform root cause analysis in plain language. The agent is open source, pricing is per node rather than per metric or container, and the company reports benchmarks showing substantially lower CPU, RAM, and disk usage than Prometheus at scale.
What it can do
- Unsupervised ML anomaly detection with 18-model consensus per metric
- Per-second metric collection with auto-generated dashboards
- MCP server for AI assistants to query metrics and diagnose issues
- Zero-configuration service discovery across hosts and containers
- 400+ built-in alerts with log correlation
Setup
Install the open-source agent with the one-line kickstart script, then optionally connect nodes to Netdata Cloud.
Prerequisites
Linux, Windows, macOS, or container hosts to monitor; optional cloud account for centralized dashboards.
