Oasis
The first real-time playable AI world model — a Minecraft-like generated frame by frame.
About
Oasis, from Israeli AI lab Decart, is a real-time world model that generates a playable Minecraft-like game entirely with AI: no game engine, no logic, no code. It takes your keyboard and mouse input and renders each frame on the fly at around 20 fps, simulating physics, rules, and graphics after training on hours of Minecraft gameplay. The demo runs in the browser, and the model weights are downloadable from Hugging Face for local experiments. Decart has since grown the line into real-time video-to-video models and, funded by its profitable GPU-optimization business, reached roughly a $4 billion valuation by 2026.
As a game it is rough. There is no object permanence: turn around and the landscape rearranges itself, digging a hole can drop you back above ground, and sessions are capped at a few minutes. On consumer hardware without optimization it runs at 1 to 2 fps. It is a proof of concept for AI-generated worlds, not a replacement for actual game engines.
What it can do
- Real-time playable AI-generated world
- Keyboard and mouse driven frame generation
- Browser demo with biome selection
- Downloadable open weights
- Screenshot-seeded world generation
Setup
Play the demo in the browser at the Oasis site, or download weights from Hugging Face for local runs with Python and PyTorch.
Prerequisites
Browser for the demo; a strong GPU for local inference.
