Phidata
Production agent framework, rebranded to Agno in 2025.
Rebranded
rebranded to Agno Jan 2025
About
Phidata was an open-source Python framework for building AI agents and assistants, known as a production-focused, batteries-included alternative to heavier frameworks. It offered built-in memory, knowledge bases with agentic RAG, structured outputs, multi-agent orchestration through teams, and an agent UI for chatting with agents.
In January 2025 the project rebranded to Agno, with the old repository redirecting developers to the new home at agno-agi. The codebase is continuous, with Agno now carrying tens of thousands of stars and an AgentOS runtime. Included here as a historical entry since older tutorials, issues, and packages still reference the Phidata name.
What it can do
- Agent framework with memory, knowledge, tools, and reasoning
- Multi-agent teams with coordinate, route, and collaborate modes
- Agentic RAG and structured outputs
- Now continued under the Agno name with AgentOS runtime
