Picovoice
On-device voice AI platform: wake word, speech-to-intent, and transcription.
About
Picovoice is an end-to-end platform for building voice interfaces that run entirely on-device. Its engine suite covers the full voice stack: Porcupine for custom wake-word detection, Cobra for voice activity detection, Rhino for speech-to-intent, Cheetah for streaming speech-to-text, Leopard for batch transcription, plus Orca text-to-speech, Eagle speaker recognition, and Falcon diarization.
Because everything processes locally, products get zero network latency and intrinsic privacy (HIPAA and GDPR friendly). It ships SDKs across an unusually wide footprint: Arm Cortex-M and STM32 microcontrollers, Raspberry Pi, Android and iOS, web browsers, and desktop OSes. Models are trained and customized through the browser-based Picovoice Console with no ML expertise required.
Caveats: on-device models trade some accuracy on complex open-ended queries versus large cloud models, and licensing plus usage tracking still require periodic internet access.
What it can do
- Custom on-device wake words
- Speech-to-intent without transcription
- Streaming and batch speech-to-text
- On-device text-to-speech
- Cross-platform SDKs from MCU to cloud
Setup
Sign up for a free AccessKey via Picovoice Console, train custom models in the browser, and add the SDK via SPM, Maven, npm, or pip.
