Postman
API platform for designing, testing, documenting, and governing APIs at scale.
About
Postman is the world's leading API platform, used by a reported 40 million developers and 500,000 organizations. It covers the full API lifecycle: designing specs, sending requests, automated testing, mock servers, documentation, monitors, and team workspaces. Its 2026 pivot made AI native to the platform rather than bolted on: Agent Mode understands APIs and executes changes inside governance controls, and the AI Engineer (announced June 2026) acts as an always-on agent that builds, tests, documents, and governs APIs using Postman's context graph.
Postman also shipped Passport, a secretless credential system that gives AI agents ephemeral, task-scoped identities instead of long-lived API keys. In March 2026 the free plan was restricted to a single user, which pushed many solo developers and small teams toward open alternatives like Bruno and Hoppscotch. Postman remains privately held with backing from Battery, BOND, Coatue, CRV, and Insight.
