Prequel
Aesthetic AI photo and video editor: 800+ effects, cartoon filters, D3D motion, beauty retouch.
About
Prequel is a mobile photo and video editor that rode the AI filter wave to more than 100 million downloads. It ships over 800 one-tap effects spanning cartoon and anime stylization, Y2K and VHS aesthetics, D3D motion that adds 3D-style movement to stills, and AI art avatars. Its neural networks run on Core ML, MNN, and TFLite, with some heavier AI processing handled server-side.
Beyond filters, it is a competent editor: manual color and light controls, AI beauty retouch for faces and bodies in both photos and video, background removal and replacement, sky swap, batch editing, and video templates with music for Reels and TikTok. The company also launched Artique, an AI design app for businesses. The app is free with a premium tier unlocking the full effect library; heavier AI features can strain mid-range phones.
