Privateer

Open space-data platform tracking satellites and debris with Wayfinder

Visit official site →

About

Privateer, co-founded by Steve Wozniak, builds a data engine and knowledge graph that tracks satellites and space debris, visualized in its open-access Wayfinder app. It released Crow's Nest, a free collision risk assessment tool using NASA conjunction-analysis methods, and acquired Orbital Insight to pair space data with Earth observation analytics.

The open-access posture is unusual in space situational awareness and useful for researchers and educators. Wayfinder is a visualization and awareness tool rather than an operational collision-avoidance system, and commercial operator adoption is less documented than the publicity.

What it can do

  • Open-access orbital visualization
  • Crow's Nest collision risk tool
  • Space data knowledge graph
  • Developer API

Setup

  1. Open the free Wayfinder web app
  2. Explore tracked satellites and debris in 3D
  3. Use Crow's Nest for collision risk assessment
  4. Access the API for space-based application development

Prerequisites

None for Wayfinder and Crow's Nest; API access for developers
