Setup Data Workspace
Discover data files in a repo, load them into DuckDB, and write query instructions to CLAUDE.md.
About
Setup Data Workspace is a data skill from the Claude Data Analyst plugin that discovers data files in the current repo, loads them into a DuckDB database, and updates CLAUDE.md with query instructions so the agent can work against the data.
It turns a folder of CSVs into a queryable workspace in one step. The limitation: it assumes the recommended CLI tooling (duckdb, csvkit, miller, uv) is on PATH, and very large files will hit the usual DuckDB single-machine limits.
What it can do
- Data file discovery
- DuckDB database creation
- CLAUDE.md query instructions
- CSV/Parquet/Excel loading
Setup
- Run: claude plugins install claude-data-analyst@danielrosehill
- Open a repo containing data files and invoke the setup-data-workspace skill.
Prerequisites
Claude Code. duckdb recommended on PATH.
