Signadot
Ephemeral Kubernetes environments for every PR, with AI contract testing.
About
Signadot provides ephemeral environments (Sandboxes) for microservices running on Kubernetes. Instead of duplicating entire stacks, a sandbox duplicates only the services a change touches and routes requests and messages into everything else on a shared baseline cluster, making per-PR preview environments fast and resource-efficient. It offers local testing (develop a microservice on your laptop against real cluster dependencies), preview environments for every pull request with automatic teardown, Jobs to run existing test suites against each environment, SmartTests (AI-powered contract testing that detects API breaking changes), and Plans (declarative test workflows agents and pipelines can run end to end).
It installs as an operator in your own Kubernetes cluster, so code and data never leave your infrastructure, and integrates with GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, and Bitbucket. Recent releases added an MCP server so coding agents can create previews per task and validate against real services. Limitations: it is Kubernetes-only, requires cluster setup and operator installation, and its AI testing features are newer and less battle-tested than the sandbox core.
What it can do
- Ephemeral sandboxes that duplicate only changed services
- Preview environments for every pull request with auto-teardown
- Local development against real cluster dependencies
- SmartTests AI contract testing for API breaking changes
- MCP server for coding-agent-driven previews
Setup
Install the Signadot operator in your Kubernetes cluster, then use the CLI or GitHub App to create sandboxes per PR.
Prerequisites
A Kubernetes cluster; CI/CD integration for automatic PR environments.
