About

Sourcegraph is the code intelligence platform built on a decade of code search infrastructure. Its universal code search indexes entire codebases across hundreds of repositories, and its AI coding assistant Cody layers LLMs on top of that search-based context retrieval — answering questions, editing code, autocompleting, and debugging with the whole codebase as context rather than relying on general-model knowledge alone.

Important status changes: in July 2025 Sourcegraph discontinued Cody's Free, Pro, and Enterprise Starter plans — only Cody Enterprise (around $59/user/mo) remains for existing enterprise customers, and the public sourcegraph/cody repository was taken private. Sourcegraph also split its agentic coding product Amp into an independent company. Cody Enterprise remains strong for large organizations needing cross-repository search and comprehension, with agentic context fetching, IDE extensions, and model updates through 2026 — but individual developers are effectively locked out now.

What it can do

  • Universal code search across hundreds of repositories
  • Cody AI assistant with codebase-aware chat, edits, and autocomplete
  • Agentic context fetching (terminal, web, local MCP servers)
  • Deep Search — agentic natural-language search across mono and multi-repo codebases

Setup

Cody Enterprise is sold through Sourcegraph's enterprise sales motion and deployed against your indexed repositories; IDE extensions are available for VS Code, JetBrains, and Visual Studio.

Prerequisites

A Sourcegraph Enterprise deployment with indexed repositories; enterprise contract.
