About

Cody (Sourcegraph, 2023) is the codebase-aware AI assistant: deep code-graph understanding for chat, completion, and commands across large repositories. Now integrated into Sourcegraph's enterprise code platform.

Commercial: via Sourcegraph plans. The code-graph awareness (not just text search) is the differentiator for large monorepos — Cody understands call graphs and dependencies. For enterprises with massive codebases on Sourcegraph, this is the natural choice; for others, Copilot/Cursor are simpler.

Trust score — 7/10

/10 trustMetrics-checked

Scored 7/10 (metrics tier). The codebase-aware differentiator (code graphs, not just text) with Sourcegraph's enterprise platform. Docked three points: (1) Sourcegraph-centric — best with their platform; (2) the standalone Cody push has wound down; (3) less general than Copilot. For large-monorepo enterprises.

How the trust score is built

Full methodology →
Adoption · stars/downloads, log-scaled vs peers
8.0/10
Maintenance · recency, releases, issue load
5.0/10
Openness · license + docs
4.5/10
Manual review · sanity read + red-flag check
7.0/10
  • · provider-tier estimate — thinner evidence (no public adoption metric)
  • · codebase-aware via code graphs; enterprise Sourcegraph
  • · no release date — neutral maintenance score
  • · manual review: differentiator is real; Sourcegraph-centric; standalone push wound down; license: proprietary — via Sourcegraph plans
