AI Elements
Open-source React components for building AI-native chat and agent UIs.
About
AI Elements is a component library and custom shadcn/ui registry released by Vercel in August 2025, designed specifically for building AI-native application interfaces. It ships more than 40 production-ready React components covering message threads, prompt inputs, reasoning panels, response actions, tool call displays, inline citations, and streaming states. The components are tightly integrated with the Vercel AI SDK hooks such as useChat, while remaining fully customizable through Tailwind CSS.
Unlike a generic UI kit, AI Elements understands AI-specific patterns: message parts, streaming responses, multi-step reasoning displays, and agent status indicators. Components are installed directly into a codebase via the shadcn registry or the ai-elements CLI, giving teams full source access with no hidden dependencies.
