Amazon Nova Premier
Amazon's most capable Bedrock model, built for distillation and long-context work
About
Nova Premier launched April 30, 2025 as the top of Amazon's Nova family on Bedrock. It handles text, images, and video with a 1M-token context and is positioned less as a reasoning rival and more as a workhorse: Amazon is explicit that it is not a thinking model like o4-mini or DeepSeek R1, and its pitch centers on complex document work, agentic workflows, and serving as a teacher model for Bedrock distillation into smaller, cheaper task models. Benchmarks are a mixed bag by Amazon's own admission: strong on knowledge retrieval and visual understanding, behind Gemini 2.5 Pro on coding and math. At $2.50/$12.50 it is priced near Gemini 2.5 Pro. It only makes sense inside AWS, since Bedrock is the sole access path.

Use cases
Trust score — 8/10
Scored 8/10 (verified tier, metrics-v1). Evidence: TechCrunch launch report (Apr 30, 2025) + THE Journal benchmark detail read this session; Pricing $2.50/$12.50 and 1M context corroborated across 4+ sources; Benchmarks explicitly Amazon-reported (SimpleQA 86.3% RAG, BFCL 63.7%, SWE-bench 42.4%); not-a-reasoning-model caveat captured; Honest limitation: Bedrock-only access, behind Gemini 2.5 Pro on coding/math per Amazon's own framing.
