Chitrarth-1
Multilingual vision-language model for nine Indian regional languages.
About
Chitrarth-1 is a multilingual vision-language model released by Krutrim, the AI lab of Ola founder Bhavish Aggarwal, in February 2025. Built on Krutrim-7B with a SIGLIP vision encoder, it was trained on multilingual image and text data and works across nine Indian regional languages, including Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Tamil, and Telugu, plus English.
It launched alongside Krutrim-2 (a 12B Mistral-NeMo-based LLM), the Dhwani-1 speech model, and Krutrim Translate as part of Krutrim's open-source AI Lab push for India-first AI. Krutrim became India's first AI unicorn in 2024 and has since expanded into the Krutrim Cloud GPU stack. Check the model card for exact license terms, since Krutrim models have shipped under a Krutrim Community License.
