CodeGemma
Google's open code models on the Gemma base: 2B infill specialist and 7B instruct.
About
CodeGemma (April 2024) is Google's family of open code models built on Gemma: a 7B pretrained model, a 7B instruction-tuned model, and a specialized 2B model for fast code infilling and open-ended generation in latency-sensitive settings. Trained on 500B–1T additional tokens of mostly code with fill-in-the-middle training. Released under Google's Gemma Terms of Use — open weights, but a custom license (not OSI-approved) that needs a read before commercial use. A v1.1 refresh followed in May 2024. Solid for IDE completion; outclassed on reasoning-heavy tasks by later coders.

Team-reported (paper): state-of-the-art code completion and generation performance at its scale among open models.
Provider-reported unless a source says otherwise. Benchmarks are marketing-adjacent by nature — treat them as directional.
Use cases
Trust score — 7/10
Scored 7/10 (verified tier, metrics-v1). Evidence: Google arXiv technical report read this session: v1.0 Apr 9 2024 (7B PT, 7B IT, 2B infill specialist), v1.1 May 3 2024, 500B-1T tokens, FIM training.; Gemma Terms of Use is a custom license (not OSI-approved) — flagged for HF-card confirmation before commercial use..
