EXAONE 4.5 is the vision-language installment of LG AI Research's EXAONE sovereign model family, unveiled in April 2026. Unlike the general-purpose LLM flagships, it is built around image and document understanding for applied public-sector work.
The model was selected to analyze more than 39,000 daily public safety reports for Korea's Ministry of Interior and Safety, and it is also being used by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety to support reviews of new drug applications. These deployments make it one of the most concretely embedded sovereign models in government workflows.
EXAONE 4.5 sits between the EXAONE 4.0 generation and the 750B-parameter K-Exaone 2.0 flagship in LG's lineup. Release timing is era-level, drawn from Korean press coverage of the April 2026 unveiling. As with most sovereign models, weights and licensing terms are not openly documented.
