About

FLUX 3 Image Klein, released October 15, 2026, is the open-weights sibling of BFL's flagship FLUX 3 Image. The 5.6-billion-parameter model handles text-to-image generation, image editing, and generation with up to ten reference images. It supports native 4K output, pixel-accurate editing, and bounding boxes for element placement on a 0–1000 canvas.

The headline practical claim is efficiency: an INT8 build runs on NVIDIA GPUs with 8 GB of VRAM, generating an image in under 9 seconds on an RTX 4070, and LoRA training works from day one through the Ostris AI Toolkit and NVIDIA NeMo AutoModel. Weights ship under the FLUX Kommunity License, free for commercial use by companies making under $5 million annually. The model is also available through the BFL API at $0.009 per 1,000 images, on Hugging Face, and in ComfyUI and Diffusers.

BFL says it scores the highest Elo ratings among all open models in internal testing, beating Ideogram V4.5 and even BFL's own FLUX.2 [pro], and gains 91 Elo points over FLUX.2 [klein] with 38 percent fewer parameters. Those figures are BFL's own with no independent rerun, so treat them as the vendor's claim until third parties test the weights.

Trust score — 8/10

/10 trustVerified

Release and specs confirmed by BFL's launch (October 15, 2026) and independent press with consistent figures; weights downloadable on Hugging Face and runnable via ComfyUI and Diffusers. Docked for: (1) the headline Elo claims are BFL's own internal tests with no independent rerun; (2) the Kommunity License caps free commercial use at $5M annual revenue, which is not OSI open source; (3) the 8GB-VRAM claim rests on the INT8 build, with quality tradeoffs unverified independently.

8.0/10
  • · Adoption 8: BFL launch (Oct 15, 2026) covered by independent press with consistent figures; HF weights + ComfyUI/Diffusers support from day one
  • · Maintenance 8: BFL actively shipping (FLUX 3 family); LoRA training support day-one via Ostris AI Toolkit and NeMo AutoModel
  • · Openness 8: weights downloadable; docked because Kommunity License caps free commercial use at $5M annual revenue (not OSI open source)
  • · Manual 8: specs verified against launch coverage; benchmark claims flagged provider-claimed
