About

Gemini 2.5 Pro is Google DeepMind's reasoning-focused flagship from the 2.5 generation,

released as an experimental preview on March 25, 2025 (general availability mid-June 2025). It is a

"thinking" model by default — it reasons step-by-step internally before answering — and handles text,

image, audio, and video inputs in a single 1,048,576-token (1M) context window. A June 2025 upgraded

preview pushed it to the top of the LMArena leaderboard (1470 Elo) and WebDevArena (1443 Elo), and led

the Aider Polyglot coding benchmark (all Google-reported, with LMArena independently observed via

human-preference voting).

Provider-reported benchmark highlights (Google launch materials):

  • Humanity's Last Exam (no tools): 18.8% — state of the art at launch
  • GPQA Diamond: 84%
  • AIME 2025: 86.7%
  • SWE-bench Verified: 63.8% (2nd to Claude 3.7 Sonnet at the time)

Available via the Gemini app,

Google AI Studio, the Gemini Developer API, and Vertex AI, with a free tier for rate-limited use.
