Gemini 3.5

Gemini 3.5 was announced at Google I/O 2026 on May 19 as Google's latest model family, becoming the default for the Gemini app and AI Mode in Google Search globally. It is positioned for long-horizon agentic tasks and multi-step work at less than half the cost of competing frontier models.

Gemini 3.5 Flash is the headline workhorse, which Google calls its strongest agentic and coding model yet at 76.2% on Terminal-Bench 2.1 and 1656 Elo on GDPval-AA, running about 4x faster in tokens per second than other frontier models. The planned 3.5 Pro flagship was reportedly canceled in favor of jumping straight to the Gemini 4 series. All access is API-only with no open weights.
