GLM-4-Air is the efficiency tier of Zhipu AI's GLM-4 model family, unveiled on June 5, 2024 alongside GLM-4-Flash and GLM-4-Air Extreme. Positioned between the flagship GLM-4 and the ultra-cheap Flash tier, it was priced at 1 yuan per million tokens and targeted high-throughput, low-latency production workloads.
It is a proprietary API-only model, not open weights, and later gained dated variants such as GLM-4-Air-0414. The Air line became the workhorse of Zhipu's price-war strategy in China's LLM market through 2024 and 2025.
