About
HyperCLOVA X SEED 3B is Naver Cloud's open multimodal model released in April 2025, processing text, image, and video with particular strength in Korean language and cultural content. It reportedly outperformed similarly sized US and Chinese models on Korean/English visual-understanding benchmarks, with accuracy claimed on par with much larger foreign models.
Unlike earlier Korean models released for research only, the SEED family (3B, 1.5B, 0.5B) is free for commercial use by domestic and international businesses, a deliberate move to grow Korea's AI ecosystem. The 3B variant crossed 1.3 million Hugging Face downloads within months, landing in the top 0.02% of models on the hub.
