Llama-3-ELYZA-JP-8B

Llama-3-ELYZA-JP-8B is a Japanese instruction-tuned variant of Meta's Llama 3 8B, released by ELYZA in spring 2024 shortly after Llama 3 itself. ELYZA post-trained the model on Japanese instruction data with an emphasis on concise, high-quality generation, and it became one of the most widely used Japanese chat models of the Llama 3 era.

It is distributed under the Meta Llama 3 Community License (flagged here, since it inherits Meta's custom terms rather than an OSI-approved license). The model ships with GGUF quantizations for LM Studio and Ollama-style local deployment, and ELYZA documents it with a formal citation for research use.
