Qwen3.8-Max
Alibaba's largest Qwen model ever — a 2.4T-parameter sparse MoE for coding, research, and long-horizon agents.
About
Qwen3.8-Max is Alibaba's flagship: a 2.4T-total-parameter sparse MoE with only 95B active per token, a 1M-token context window, and native text/image/video input. The 0902 post-training update (Sept 2026) targets coding and workplace scenarios.
Roughly ten days after the August API launch, Alibaba released weights as Qwen3.8-2.4T-A95B — the first Max-class open weights — but the weights are text-only and carry a bespoke license (separate commercial license above $50M revenue for model-as-a-service use), not Apache 2.0.

Benchmarks
Alibaba-reported (all provider-claimed):
- #1 overall in Code Arena (per Alizila, Sept 2026)
- Top of the Pareto Frontier at a $5/M blended rate
- 4th in Frontend Code Arena
Provider-reported unless a source says otherwise. Benchmarks are marketing-adjacent by nature — treat them as directional.
Use cases
Trust score — 9/10
Alibaba is an established provider and the Alizila announcement is official, with real API availability across regions. Caveats are significant: the open-weights license is bespoke and restrictive compared to earlier permissive Qwen generations, weights lag the API and lose multimodal input, all benchmarks are vendor-claimed, and pricing varies by region.
