Sarvam-30B
India's 30B open-weight MoE for Indian-language conversational AI.
About
Sarvam-30B is a 30-billion-parameter mixture-of-experts language model built by Bengaluru-based Sarvam AI as part of India's sovereign AI program under the IndiaAI Mission. It was unveiled at the AI Impact Summit in February 2026 and released as open weights under Apache 2.0 on March 6, 2026, with weights on Hugging Face and AIKosh. The model uses a sparse MoE design with 128 experts and roughly 2.4B active parameters, plus grouped query attention, and offers a 32,000-token context window.
Sarvam-30B was trained entirely in India on government-backed GPU compute, using datasets curated in-house across pre-training, supervised fine-tuning, and reinforcement learning. It is optimized for real-time conversational deployment and powers Samvaad, Sarvam's conversational agent platform. Per the company, it achieves state-of-the-art results on Indian language benchmarks despite its modest size.
