Yi-1.5-6B-Chat is the conversational variant of Yi-1.5-6B, open-sourced on May 13, 2024 by 01.AI as part of the Yi-1.5 series. The 1.5 generation improved coding, math, reasoning, and instruction-following over the original Yi-6B while keeping the fully permissive Apache 2.0 license.
Like the rest of the Yi family, it is a Llama-architecture model trained from scratch on a 3 trillion token multilingual corpus, with strong English and Chinese performance. The Yi-1.5 release was widely noted as a genuine Apache 2.0 competitor to Meta's Llama 3 at the 6-9B scale.
