Command R+ (08-2024)

Command R+ (08-2024) is the August 2024 refresh of Cohere's flagship enterprise language model, a 104-billion-parameter model aimed at RAG, tool use and multilingual business workloads across 10 key languages. Cohere positioned the refresh as roughly 50% higher throughput and 25% lower latency than the April version at the same hardware footprint, with a 128K-token context window. It is proprietary: no weights are published, and use is governed by Cohere's Usage Policy and SaaS Agreement via API.

In its era it was competitive with GPT-4 Turbo on RAG and multilingual evals per Cohere's reporting, and ranked well on open-weights comparisons that did not actually release weights. It has since been superseded in Cohere's lineup by Command A and the Command R7B refresh.
