Ministral 3 3B is the smallest member of Mistral's Ministral 3 family, released December 2, 2025 as part of the Apache 2.0 open-source Mistral 3 lineup. It accepts text and image inputs and produces text, with a 256k context window.
Mistral built the family via cascade distillation, alternately pruning and distilling Mistral Small 3.1 into progressively smaller children. The 3B ships in base, instruct and reasoning variants.
Independent benchmarks report the instruct variant at about 230 tokens per second via Mistral's API, well above the median for similarly sized open-weight models.
