Ministral 3B
Compact 3B-parameter instruction model built for on-device and edge inference.
About
Ministral 3B is a small language model released by Mistral AI in October 2024 alongside Ministral 8B. It targets phones, laptops, and embedded systems where latency, memory, and offline operation matter more than raw reasoning power.
Despite its size, the model supports a 128K-token context window and instruction tuning for dialogue, retrieval-augmented generation, and function calling. Mistral released it under the Apache 2.0 license, making it freely usable in commercial products.
This entry covers the original 2024 Ministral 3B release. Mistral later launched a separate, newer Ministral 3 family in late 2025, which is a different model line.
