About
Typhoon-7B is SCB 10X's Thai-optimized large language model, released in January 2024 as the market's most capable open Thai LLM at the time. Built on Mistral-7B with an expanded Thai vocabulary, optimized tokenization, and continual pretraining, it matched GPT-3.5 on Thai standardized exams while processing Thai text far more efficiently.
The pretrained model is distributed under the Apache 2.0 license on Hugging Face, with an instruction-tuned version served via API. The work was documented in the paper at arXiv 2312.13951 and marked a milestone for Southeast Asian language AI.
